RIAT 2016 Arrivals Day 1 – Scorpion and Polish F-16s

Continuing the thread of RIAT 2016 and the first day of arrivals, here are the Textron Airland Scorpion and Polish F-16s arriving for the International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

Like a few other operators of the F-16, the Polish Air Force opted to equip there jets with the humpback conformal fuel tanks, giving the F-16 nearly 44% more fuel and obvious range improvements. It doesn’t do much for the lines of the jet for me though!

You’ve got to love the nozzle actuator noise on the F-16 as well. The exhaust nozzle control mechanism on the F100 is powered by bleed air from the engine and creates that distinctive F100 nozzle noise. You’ll hear the same sound on my F-15 videos as well.
