Two low level F-15E Strike Eagle passes- Bwlch Spur, Mach Loop 2018

My personal favourite in the loop are the 48th Fighter Squadron F-15s from RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. The F-15 is a big jet and always makes for an impressive sight when flown low level, especially in the valleys of the North Wales Military Training Area.

This was the last bit of footage I shot in the Mach Loop before it became a lot quieter in late 2018 and early 2019. I’ve not been back since, but I hope to make another trip in 2020.

x5 RAF Hawk T.2 low level passes in the Mach Loop – July 2018

These jets are from RAF Valley where Royal Air Force fast jet pilots train and hone their skills before moving onto frontline fighters like the Typhoon and F-35.

This video was shot on 31st July 2018 from Bwlch Spur in the now famous Mach Loop, a circular route which is part of a bigger low fly area (LFA7) in the North Wales Military Training Area.

The Mach Loop is so called as it passes near to the town of Machynlleth, and is a circular system where pilots often go twice around. The USAF pilots often refer to the loop as ‘The Roundabout’ relating to the often chaotic British road junction of the same name.

USAF F-16 Vipers through the Mach Loop – July 2018

The 510th Fighter Squadron “Buzzards” were on deployment to RAF Lakenheath back in the summer of 2018 from Aviano Air Base. Whilst on TDY they paid a visit to low fly area 7 (LFA7) also know as the Mach Loop in North Wales.

The 510th fly the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. Interestingly, back in 1980s, the 510th used to fly the A-10 Thunderbolt II and were based at RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk which I remember well as a kid. It’s good to see the 510th back in UK skies 🙂

Six Low level Tornado GR4 passes – Bwlch Spur, Mach Loop

I thought I’d upload something a bit special on Christmas day. Especially as my channel is at 9,991 subscribers and about to pass the 10,000 mark!

I didn’t realise it at the time but these were the last RAF GR4s that I’d shoot low level. These were shot in the Mach Loop, mid Wales, 31st July 2018.

Low level C-130 Hercules – Cad East Mach Loop

From RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, this C-130J Hercules is from No. 206 Test and Evaluation Squadron, this particular aircraft sporting a special tail.

This pass was shot from Cad East where you get a really nice head on view before the aircraft bank right to make the pass through the valley.

Two 494th F-15 passes in the Mach Loop – July 2018

I’m uploading these for reference more than anything as I screwed up the focus on these two passes 🙄 You can’t win ’em all! At least they’re in focus when they’re close up, but not to my normal standards!

Even so, it’s always great to see the 48th Fighter Wing low level with their F-15E Strike Eagles. These particular jets were from the 494th Fighter Squadron, also known as the Panthers.
