F-15C and D recoveries from an awesome viewing location – RAF Lakenheath Base Tour – 29th April 2016

Firstly apologies for the wind noise, even my fluffy couldn’t handing the wind from the day! πŸ’¨

The Reaper pilots did seem to be really using aerodynamic breaking on this day. I’m pretty sure the first guy dropped his nose at the exact point he got alongside us, complete with a fist pump πŸ€™πŸ‘ŠπŸ˜Ž

I’ve decided to do the same and split the morning recoveries into the three different aircraft types we saw flying on the day. These are the F-15Cs and Ds from the 493rd Fighter Squadron, The Grim Reapers.

I was lucky enough to spend the day with the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath back in April 2016. It was a huge privilege to get up close and personal with these front line aircraft and their crew.

I’ve decided to split the morning launches into the three different aircraft types we saw flying on the day. These are the F-22 Raptors from 95th Fighter Squadron, the Boneheads.

Low level F-15Es, Mach Loop 16th Feb 2016

It was a fantastic day in the loop on February 17th, and the first low level outing with my new Sony X160.

The temperature was below freezing for the first part of the day but SHIFTY flight from the 48th Fighter Wing warmed us all up!

These jets were from the 492nd Fighter Squadron, the Madhatters based out of RAF Lakenheath in the UK.

F-15E Strike Eagle afterburner blowout on take off

Footage from January 15th 2014 of an F-15E Strike Eagle on take off from RAF Lakenheath, UK. The footage shows a dramatic AB blowout at normal speed, 30% original and 5% original.

The event itself only lasts around 0.2 seconds, the pilots reaction is fast and decisive.
