RAF Lakenheath Base Tour – 29th April 2016

I was lucky enough to spend the day with the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath back in April 2016. It was a huge privilege to get up close and personal with these front line aircraft and their crew.

Thanks so much to those that made it happen. It will be a day that I’ll remember for a long long time!

Mach Loop F-15E Strike Eagles (CLAW41) flight April 10th 2017

Video 6 of 6

We were visited by the 494th FS from the 48th FW (RAF Lakenheath) on April 10th who treated us to 27 passes in the Mach Loop in Wales. One of the best days we’ve seen.

I decided to separate out each flight of jets into a different video, so that crews and enthusiasts could decipher the action. This flight, CLAW41, was a two ship and did two passes at Bwlch Spur. The jets were 91-0334 and 91-0309 and are here in order of appearance.

F-15E launches from a unique angle – RAF Lakenheath Base Tour – 29th April 2016

I was lucky enough to spend the day with the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath back in April 2016. It was a huge privilege to get up close and personal with these front line aircraft and their crew.

I’ve decided to split the morning launches into the three different aircraft types we saw flying on the day. These are the F-15E from the 492nd and 494th Fighter Squadron, The Bolars and Panthers.

F-15C and D recoveries from an awesome viewing location – RAF Lakenheath Base Tour – 29th April 2016

Firstly apologies for the wind noise, even my fluffy couldn’t handing the wind from the day! 💨

The Reaper pilots did seem to be really using aerodynamic breaking on this day. I’m pretty sure the first guy dropped his nose at the exact point he got alongside us, complete with a fist pump 🤙👊😎

I’ve decided to do the same and split the morning recoveries into the three different aircraft types we saw flying on the day. These are the F-15Cs and Ds from the 493rd Fighter Squadron, The Grim Reapers.
